Who are we...

"So what is 'the Vineyard' anyways? Are there grapes and wine involved?!" Good question!

What are the goals of the Vineyard?

The Vineyard has always had two goals, namely:

  • To bring inspiration and exhortation to Christian churches worldwide

  • To start Vineyard churches

The first goal has been achieved by holding conferences worldwide under the name of Vineyard Ministries International (VMI).

The second goal is facilitated by the Association of Vineyard Churches. There are about 600 churches worldwide. While Vineyards may vary in style and personality from place to place, there are some core beliefs and practices that we hold in common.

These include:

  • A firm commitment to orthodox Evangelical Christian doctrine and beliefs

  • The teaching of the Bible as God’s word and our standard of faith and practice

  • The value of meeting in small groups for encouragement and growth

  • An effort to effectively equip the saints to do the ministry and to live in the character of Jesus

  • A commitment to prayer for physical healing and emphasis upon God’s working in signs and wonders

  • The reaching of the lost through evangelism and missions

  • A desire for unity and co-operation with other churches and pastors

  • The exercising of spiritual gifts

  • An emphasis on ministry to the poor, widows, orphans, and the broken.

Each Vineyard is unique, yet we share in common a desire to truly know and experience God and serve Him with all of our hearts. We believe that our relationship with God must be relevant, practical and powerful if it is going to impact our lives and the lives of others.

We are a part of Vineyard Canada, a growing movement of churches across Canada, sharing resources and relationship—together we are committed to serve Jesus and make him known. Our National Director, David Ruis, created a “Why Vineyard” digital booklet to enable everyone to know much more of the Vineyard’s values, practices, history, and theology as well as understand our leadership structure. Grab a cup of coffee and read through Why Vineyard.
